Shariff aka Saphin/"Crystalistic Windows" (1993)

Very rare and officially released in 1993 to relative critical silence, the fully instrumental Shariff/"Crystalistic Windows" was Saphin's one and only foray into the "New Age" market.
An InterviewSaphin's explains how it came about, "I was doing music beds for a meditation tape that an Astrologer friend of mine called Rachelle Hasnas was creating, when I got done with that, the company (a Bach Flower Remedy distributor) liked it so much they asked me if I'd do a record on my own for them and they'd distribute it for Christmas in their catalogue. sounded like fun to me, enter "Shariff".
Why the pseudonym?
I didn't want to use my real name because I wanted to make a distinction between the singer/songwriter and the "New Age" guy, I was of course wondering what the to call myself and one night/morning around 3am I was watching bad late night TV (although not in this case) While flipping through the three channels I got with my aluminum foil rabbit ear antenna, the credits for the classic "Doctor Zhivago" had just beginning to roll, the face of Omar Sharif pops up with his name under it, so I added an "f" to the Sharif part (because it looked like it needed one). and dropped the Omar part because I couldn't grow a mustache.
