Elementary Watson
Well, people, as you may very well know by now, I spent years as both a nationally published entertainment (Music) critic, as well as a recording artist by the moniker of Elementary Watson -- with two indie CD's distributed through Serendipity Records. You also likely know that I have more recently entered into the film industry as a Music Supervisor, working on some small indie films that have yet to see release. All this is to basically say that, while I'm the first to admit that all opinions are equally subjective, regardless of ones background 'expertise,' I hope you would consider me, after all the aforementioned relevant experience, to know my business. As such, I've decided to use this platform on MySpace.com to promote what I feel is some of the most talented, intriguing and seminal unsigned artists also featured on the site.

Everybody already likely knows of my love for the music of The Fabulous Miss Wendy, so you can go check her out. But I'd like to take this opportunity to expose you to one of my other favorite unsigned artists/personal friends, whom I have every intention of including on some eventual film projects soundtrack. The name is Saphin. The music mostly defies traditional comparisons and labels -- yet in an odd way I think you will certainly find him to have some Bowie-esque overtones, in a Ziggy Stardust mode of experimental pop rock. The voice, the image...the man is a phenom that I will not allow to go unnoticed. Although, let me not feign such presumption as to imply that they have. They have not. Saphin has quite a following. Yet, regardless of Saphin's fanbase, I feel that many male driven artists still get less hits on MySpace, in order to dwell on the prepubescent hormonal fantasies of both young, as well as not so young, 'boys' seeking hot female fronted bands. For this reason, as well as others, did I find it necessary to expose you, my humble bulletin receivers, to Saphin first in my upcoming line of recommendations.

Saphin is an NYC band with a decidedly outerspace-like edge. Since the general leanings towards male bands are disproportionally lower, I offer you this chance to set things straight, letting the brightest lights shine through -- unfettered by any preconceived notions or cynically tainted prejudices. I will feature Saphin's music on my main page for the next several weeks. At that point, I will likely move on to another artist that I want to highlight my focal point on. Go to my page NOW!...darnit!!! Listen, become a part of Saphin-scape.
