“Like WHOAH!!! Trippy!! From the music, production, and even the artwork, Jeff has hit on a niche, style and sound that is totally fresh, original, and his very own, all from classic elements that any true blue cool music fan would dig. Jeff is based in NYC, but if you asked him where he's from, he would tell you he is not from this planet, that he's an alien. His style + songs are straight out of "Space Oddity"-era David Bowie, but toss in a more psychedelic sound and related lyrics, and modern production values. He calls his music "cosmic glam", and he's right on the money. Even his stage presence is like the man who fell to Earth. He looks like a cross between Bowie + Goo Goo Doll Johnny Rzeznik, and he keeps a dressing room to the side of the stage he plays on, along with TV sets showing alien + science fiction movies and old TV footage.
Musically, "This" is 14 songs with cosmic lyrics and drop-dead melodies, very Bowie-like, but fresh at the same time. The songs' moods run from sublime tracks like "May Fair Tonight (Interstellar Love Song)", The Girl From Christopher Street", and opener "Bang!" (featuring an appearance by master Richard Barone), to cool rockers like "Stone Hips", "The King Of Queens", and "Neon Soul", to complex, sprawling, cryptically titled tracks like "Asong: About, Abook" (over 6 minutes), and the similarly long "The Ballad Of Fay, Ray, And I". Sometimes you don't know what he's singing about, but that's not the point. It's the total delivery + overall jaw-dropping sound that lure you in, and never lets you go. You can't help but be a victim, a zombie, to the wonders and surprises that lurk around every corner of Jeff's world, and in turn, this masterful, wonderful record.”
